    I have not written a THOUGHT FROM PAULA column for quite some time.  The last one I wrote was correcting Larry King on what "Transgender" means.

    This summer I participated in a wonderful workshop sponsored by an organization called "Write Around Portland." 

    Write Around Portland conducts volunteer-facilitated

   Larry King was incorrect in telling some of his guests on a recent program that if they have not gone through sex reassignment surgery, they are not transgender.  And the lady doctor/specialist

    A minister called adultery "the A word."  And so, I asked him: "Then what do you call fornication"?  (smile) 

     Words, and how they are used, are a powerful form of
