About Sister Paula
Paula Nielsen is a true pioneer. She has lived as a transgendered woman since 1963. She served as the very first church secretary for Portland Metropolitan Church in the 1970’s. She wrote for some of Portland’s very first gay newspapers, worked as a nightclub entertainer at the legendary Darcelle XV and began making public access television programs in 1987. Since 2006 she has been podcasting on the web.
Her autobiography and a documentary about her life are both due out later in 2012.
She lives on a fixed income and receives no financial compensation from the ministry.
